Family fun in Millennium Park

This summer, from June 10th through September 4th, Millennium Park once again plays host to the best of free family entertainment and activities for the under-12 set, including:

Wiggleworms classes from instructors from the Old Town School of Folk Music, who lead young children in sing-alongs, circle dances, finger games, and more. Daily at 10am.

Reading Circles, hour-long story times during which kids can chill out, snack on picnic foods, or just rest up before what comes next. Daily at 11am.

Family Performances, delightful mixtures of live music, interactive dance, and circus performances for kids of all ages. Daily at 1pm & 1:45pm.

The Activity Zone, under the tent at Chase Promenade North, where kids can take part in hands-on craft projects, garden, and science activities with some of the area’s most popular museums and cultural organizations. This year’s schedule:

  • June 10-14: Wild in the City Week (Lurie Garden & Chicago Wilderness)
  • June 15-21: Garden Extravaganza Week (Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance)
  • June 29-July 5: Taste Week (Purple Asparagus & Museum of Contemporary Art)
  • July 6-12: Circus Carnival Week (Art Institute of Chicago & Museums of Springfield IL)
  • July 13-19: Millennium Park’s Birthday Celebration Week (Chicago Office of Tourism)
  • July 20-26: China Week (Chinese-American Museum of Chicago)
  • July 27-August 2: Health and Safety Week (Chicago Children’s Museum)
  • August 3-9: Rock ‘n Roll Week (Chicago Children’s Museum)
  • August 10-16: Tropical Week (Museum of Contemporary Art)
  • August 17-23: Dance Week (Chicago Park District)
  • August 24-September 4: Science and Exploration Week (Museum of Science and Industry)

All events are held under the tent in Chase Promenade North. For more information — including an extensive list of Family Performances artists — visit www.millenniumpark.org or call 312.742.1168.
