Sushi isn’t always the most frugal of meal choices, but Lincoln Square’s Tank Sushi offers a solution to the dilemma of an appetite for maki and a strict budget: happy hour. Okay, so they don’t call it happy hour — that’s just my opinion of  the restaurant’s half-price discount on select maki Mon-Fri from 11:30am to 2:30pm and Sat-Sun from 1:30pm to 6pm. Regular maki prices range from $5.25 (avocado) to $15.25 (samurai); with the discount you’ll have enough cash left over to see a $5.50 matinee at the Davis Theatre, take in a concert at the Old Town School of Folk Music, or just order an extra sake (or one of  Tank’s signature martinis — normally $10 but only $5 on Mondays).

Tank Sushi is located at 4514 N. Lincoln Ave. and is easily accessible via the Brown Line (Western Ave. “L” station). Parking is available in a city lot or on the street for $1 per hour.
